Take a kraft bag, fill it with (delicious) chocolate chip cookies, close it with a ribbon and a rose -- and it's almost too good to give away!

This little purse holds 3 cards.  I used the April kit from ARTCHOUM to make it.  Have to love those little angel badges !!

Voici ce que l'on obtient quand on travaille ensemble, avec ma mère ... moi, j'ai fabriqué les fleurs (en papier, voir mon vidéo ici) et elle a fait la composition florale.  Nous avons trouvé les pieds de vigne dans un tas que le voisin allait brûler.  Une promenade autour de la maison pour trouver les "mauvaises herbes", un petit trajet au fond du jardin pour cueillir quelques feuilles du magnolia ... le résultat est splendide dans la niche au-dessus les frigos et fours dans la maison.

This is what can happen when I work with my mother ... I made the flowers (out of paper -- here's the video), she did the arranging.   We found the grape vines in a pile that the neighbour was just going to burn; we picked the weeds while out walking one afternoon and then Mom made a short trip to the magnolia tree at the bottom end of the yard to pick a few leaves.  All in all, it looks great in the niche up above the fridges and ovens.

Je vous ai promis une photo du "quilt papillons" que ma mère nous a fait à partir des mouchoirs brodés de ma grand-mère et arrière-grand-mère.  Le voici !  Il manque un peu de décoration dans la chambre, mais le quilt me donne un bon point de départ.

The other day, I promised to post a photo of the butterfly quilt that Mom made for us from my grandmother's and great-grandmother's handkerchiefs.  Here it is!  The bedroom hasn't been decorated yet, but the quilt gives me a good base to start from.

Quand ma mère est venue en mars, elle nous a apporté un "quilt" qu'elle a dessiné et cousu cet hiver.  Pour toute la piqûre à la main, elle s'est fait aider par ses voisines.  (Je vous mettrai une photo du quilt sur ce blog un autre jour.)  Pour remercier les dames qui ont participé au "quiltage" (j'invente des mots, là!), nous leur avons fabriqué des sachets de lavande -- lavande de notre jardin, roses en ruban faites de mes mains et des sachets fabriqués à partir du lin des anciens draps de mes beaux-parents.  Le "A" (brodé avec ma machine à coudre) est pour Avignon, bien sûr !

My mother designed and made a quilt for us this past winter, that she brought with her in March.  Some of her neighbours helped her with the hand-sewing.  (I'll post a photo of the quilt another day.)  To thank the ladies that participated in the quilting, we made them lavender sachets.  The lavender is from our garden, I made the ribbon roses and the sachets are made out of old linen sheets belonging to my parents-in-law.  The "A" on the sachets (embroidered with my sewing machine) stands for "Avignon", of course!

Un autre des nombreux talents de ma mère est la tapisserie -- chose que je n'avais jamais faite auparavant.  Pendant son séjour ici, elle a attaqué nos chaises de la salle à manger ... voici le résultat.  Elle est repartie au Canada hier, et j'ai du coller le galon seule-comme-une-grande aujourd'hui,.  Il m'en restait quelques dizaines de centimètres ... vous verrez ce que j'ai fait avec un petit bout du galon sur le sachet-du-sachet (!) de lavande, ci-dessous.  Jessica l'amènera en Espagne ce week-end car il fera partie du cadeau qu'elle offrira à ses hôtes.

As I've already said, my mother is a person of many talents -- one of them being upholstering.  While she was here, she re-did our dining room chairs.  She left to go back home yesterday, and so I had to glue the trim onto them all by myself this afternoon -- I guess I managed to get it straight enough.    I had just slightly overestimated the quantity I needed, and you'll see below what I did with a little bit of my leftover trim -- I used it on the packaging of a lavender sachet that Jessica will take to Spain with her this week-end, as part of her gift to her hosts.

Voici une technique apprise sur l'internet (je ne sais plus où) ... de l'encre DISTRESS sur une feuille de papier alu pour créer des jolis fonds pour cartes.  On a fait ces deux-là, avec ma mère, cette semaine.  Si la technique vous intéresse, la vidéo est ici.

This is a technique I learned on the net (but I don't really remember where), using Distress ink on a sheet of aluminium paper.   Mom and I made these 2 cards the other night.  If you're interested in seeing how the technique works, click here for the video.

Voici une carte qu'a proposée Heather Summers sur Split Coast Stampers récemment.  J'aime beaucoup les créations de Heather (vous ne la connaissez pas?  Elle est sur Stamp with Heather.)  Elle est démonstratrice SU! en Ontario.  Evidemment, j'ai adapté sa carte à mon goût, et à MES tampons ... et j'adore le résultat !

This is based on a card that Heather Summers recently featured on Split Coast Stampers.  I really like what Heather does (if you haven't seen her work, you can find her here).  She's a SU! demonstrator in Southern Ontario (that's another one of her good points!).  Obviously, I've adapted her project to my taste (and MY stamps!) ... and am rather satisfied with it!

Si vous ne la connaissez pas, vous ne pouvez pas savoir que ma mère est très douée pour PLEIN de choses ... y compris la composition florale.  (D'ailleurs, j'ai souvent dit que si j'ai le moindre brin de talent artistique, c'est grâce à elle!)  Ce matin, nous sommes allées acheter un petit bouquet, très banal, de fleurs mélangées.  Voici ce qu'elle en a fait !  Ca m'épate ... faut que j'apprenne à faire ça !  (Le bouquet était pour une amie, qui nous a fait un déjeuner royal aujourd'hui !  Merci, Jeepy !)  

If you don't know my mother, you have no way of knowing that she's pretty talented in a lot of ways ... including flower arrangements!  (I've often said that if I have the least bit of artistic talent, it's all thanks to her!)  This morning, we went to buy a very boring bouquet of mixed flowers, and this is what she managed to do with it.  I really must learn how to do that!  (The bouquet was for a friend, who treated us to a fabulous lunch today!  Thanks, Jeepy!)

Après un essai avec des jolies roses à l'anglaise, effacées ce matin, voici le résultat de ma journée de peinture dans le bureau de Thierry.  Très royal, n'est-ce pas ?? ;)  J'ai découpé le pochoir dans une boîte de classement plastique - c'était parfait !

I painted over my first go of English-style roses this morning, and ended up with this at 4 pm.   Fit for a king!  I cut the stencil out of a plastic file box -- it's all I had at hand!
